Electrician does his bit for charity
A charity in Kidderminster has received a helping hand from its local qualified electrician in its efforts to bring in some extra cash.
Mentor Link, which provides volunteers to support and encourage young adults who are struggling in education, has employed electrician Kevin McGreevy to launch a service carrying out safety checks on electrical appliances.
The tests cost £1 or more per item in addition to a small call-out charge, with all of the profits going towards the charity, The Shuttle reports.
Mentor Link's director Mike Pearson said the project will help local businesses to comply with health and safety regulations while supporting a good cause.
He told the paper: "We are also asking people to donate small electrical items that are in working order that can be tested and re-sold."
Mentor Link began in February 2002 and now offers the services of its 140 volunteers to ten schools in the Wyre Forest and Worcestershire.
