New Manchester building firm launched
By Susie Cho
A government-backed scheme has helped a Merseyside-based building contractor to open a new office in Greater Manchester, providing more jobs for qualified tradespeople.
Rigby Construction secured a £150,000 boost to its coffers from Natwest through the government's Enterprise Finance Guarantee scheme in order to launch its new venture, RBC, in Chadderton.
The company employs operatives from the local area and carries out plumbing, heating and electrical work in addition to its construction activities.
RBC aims to target customers in the local authority and healthcare sectors.
"We believe there are a number of opportunities across Greater Manchester for niche building contractors like ourselves," commented Darren Rigby, group managing director of Rigby Construction.
NatWest's Craig Cheetham added: "Darren and the rest of his team have a long and successful track record on Merseyside."
The company may be hoping to get a share of the £25 million boost recently promised for stalled housing schemes in Manchester.
