More refurbishments needed as property sector picks up
News of an upturn in the property market is leading many homeowners to call in the builders to refurbish their properties, one maintenance firm claims.
As homeowners look ahead to the time they can sell their property, more and more qualified tradesmen will be needed to fix up their houses in order to make them as desirable as possible.
The refurbishment sector experienced something of a slowdown at the beginning of 2009 as householders were forced to consider their finances.
However, managing director of Aspect Maintenance William Davies says more people are now realising the investment potential of carrying out refurbishments across the whole interior of their houses.
"Many clients were 'sitting on' quotes, but now they are beginning to place their orders. A large number of these are for larger-scale refurbishments, around £100,000 £150,000," he commented.
It follows the publication of figures from the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply this month, which indicated good news for the construction and maintenance sector following a rise in the purchasing managers' index.
