Bronte museum gears up for major refurb
Handymen in Yorkshire will soon be called upon to start work on a £50,000 refurbishment of one of the region's most popular museums.
The Bronte Parsonage Museum in Haworth, near Bradford, has received a Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) grant to completely revamp the historic building along with its displays, including new exhibits, over the next two years.
Andrew McCarthy, director of the museum, commented: "We are delighted that the Heritage Lottery Fund is supporting us with this work.
"The Brontes are the heart of Haworth but they were part of a broader community when they lived and wrote here and the museum has an important role in reflecting that."
Recently a major refurbishment to the Bronte Parsonage Museum's permanent exhibition space was completed, its first such development in over 20 years.
As well as featuring exhibits of Yorkshire's most famous literary family, the museum also hosts art exhibitions and theatre.
