Handymen want more green info
Britain's tradespeople would like more information on how to offer green advice to their customers, according to a survey by the Energy Saving Trust (EST).
Some 55 per cent of tradespeople polled said they would offer such advice if they had more knowledge on the subject, while 84 per cent revealed they would like to be trusted by their customers to help their homes become more energy efficient.
Qualified plumbers came top of the poll as the most likely to be able to offer green advice, with around eight out of ten (81 per cent) feeling confident that they could do so.
Peter Sellwood, chief executive of the EST, said householders can benefit from reduced energy bills through eco-friendly improvements.
"Latest figures show that £23.9 billion is spent on repair, maintenance and improvement works on the UK housing stock and some of this work represents a missed opportunity to make green improvements," he commented.
Last month the Whitchurch Herald reported that a local plumber had opened his own store in the town, dedicated to supplying eco-friendly systems.
