Limescale solution keeps shipping firm sailing
The headquarters of a London shipping company has reported that three months on, a limescale-beating solution installed by qualified plumbers is still working well and saving energy.
Immersion heaters at Grimaldi House in St James' Square previously had to be changed on a weekly basis due to the extremely hard water in the area.
A 150-litre tank, non-ventilated hot water cylinder running at 4.5 bars of pressure is used to heat all the water in the premises, served by two electric immersion heaters which run 24-hours a day.
Maintenance firm Banyards asked Splendid Products for a solution to the costly problem of replacing the heaters, which was also increasing the firm's use of electricity.
An LP4 electronic water heater, which costs around three pounds per year to run, was supplied and fitted by qualified plumbers and three months on the system is still working well.
Splendid Products estimates that if every house in the UK that is in a hard water area had an electronic water de-scaler fitted, the country could save enough energy to shut down four power stations.
