Pink plumber takes on the boys
A Derby teacher has swapped pupils for pipes and decided to set up her own business after retraining as a plumber.
Philippa Cunningham, 48, established the all-female Pink Plumbing in October last year complete with her own distinctive pink van, the Derby Telegraph reports.
She was inspired to make the change after seeing a course offered by Train 4 Trade Skills, which allowed her to complete some of her training through distance learning.
Philippa has now gained her City and Guilds plumbing qualification, is working towards becoming Corgi-registered and has even taken on a trainee.
She told the paper: "There is a really nice community of tradespeople in Derby and we all help each other out by passing on jobs that we can't do ourselves to other people."
Pink Plumbing offers a range of services from annual maintenance, site surveys, repairs and advice to design concepts and planning.
