Plumber helps homeowners go green and save cash
A Peterborough-based plumbing and drainage firm has launched a unique service to allow homeowners to save money and help the environment at the same time.
Drain Doctor Plumbing now provides a complete rainwater harvesting installation service which prevents rainwater and so-called grey water from sinks and baths from being lost to drainage.
A collection tank in the garden harvests rainwater runoff from the roof, allowing it to fill a water butt, feed a garden tap or be pumped back into the house for non-drinking uses like flushing toilets and washing machines.
The grey water harvesting system also allows household water to be used twice, cutting bills and reducing the strain on local water treatment plants.
Robin Banks, operations manager at Drain Doctor, says the installation is managed by fully-trained subcontractors throughout.
"The customer will have one point of contact from the start to final completion of the project," he added.
Recently the Drain Doctor franchise, which has 104 owner-operated businesses in the UK, expanded its operations to Portugal.
