Plumber s merchant goes green
A Sutton plumber's merchant has pledged its support to the environment by constructing a purpose-built "green branch" on the Wealdstone Road trading estate.
Plumbase says the building was designed to be as carbon neutral as possible and it features a plant-covered roof and ivy-covered walls to encourage local wildlife to set up home there.
Adding to the eco-friendliness of the 5,200 sq ft building is energy-saving thermal insulation, the Sutton Guardian reports.
Branch manager of the new Plumbase Dean Ives told the paper that he was excited to be opening a branch that achieves so many firsts.
"Having lived and worked locally for many years, I know the area very well and have built up good relationships with local tradesmen," he added.
Plumbase joins Drain Doctor in the drive to make plumbing a greener industry, after the Peterborough-based plumber launched its new water harvesting installation service allowing households to re-use their waste water.
