£84m insulation funding is good news for tradesmen
Tradesmen around the UK will soon be helping to install insulation in thousands of social homes after the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) revealed an £84 million funding package.
The Social Housing Energy Saving Programme is part of the government's plan to stimulate housing development and provide more jobs for those in the construction industry.
Some 110,000 homes are expected to be insulated by the scheme, helping tenants to reduce their energy bills and cut carbon emissions.
Sir Bob Kerslake, chief executive of the HCA, said social landlords have responded extremely positively to the news.
"The funding will therefore not only be a welcome boost to improving insulation in existing social housing stock, but will also provide an employment boost to the cavity wall insulation industry," he commented.
The London Development Agency recently announced £9.5 million worth of funding to retrofit the capital's homes with energy-saving measures.
