Homeowners trying to make savings on their energy bills should consider hiring a qualified tradesman to install loft insulation, according to the National Home Improvement Council (NHIC).

Housing regeneration will create jobs
A new regeneration strategy could create new job opportunities in the building sector, according to the Federation of Master Builders (FMB).
Handymen and tradesmen would receive a turnaround in fortunes with a further dedication to residential repair and maintenance projects, it has been claimed.
It would also boost the government's prospects of meeting its carbon emissions targets, according to Richard Diment, director general of the FMB.
He warned that some of the current building stock "will still be in use in 2050 when the government plans to have cut carbon emissions by 80 per cent".
"Building zero carbon new homes is not enough; the government must look at refurbishing the existing building stock," Mr Diment added.
The Construction Products Association recently highlighted the importance of the government following through with its construction industry investment programme.
Association chairman Adrian Barden has written to business secretary Lord Peter Mandelson, urging him to ensure the government maintains its commitments.
