Monmouth Library closes for £210k refurb
Tradesmen and refurbishment professionals in south Wales have more work ahead of them after Monmouth Library closes for a £210,000 refit.
The library is situated in the Victorian Rolls Hall and was originally used as a lecture hall and theatre, until a major refurbishment project in 1992 turned it into a modern library.
As well as creating a new community room for local people, tradesmen will be required to redesign the entrance foyer, which will offer internet access, newspapers, a seating area and a coffee machine.
New external signage will also be installed on the building, as well as a seating area, automated side door and thorough programme of repainting and recarpeting throughout.
The refit follows news that a grant of £910,350 has been awarded for a wide-ranging scheme of refurbishments and repairs to some of Wales' most historic buildings, including Ebenezer Baptist Church in Swansea and Dyffryn House in the Vale of Glamorgan.
