More trades jobs coming to Somerset
By Charles Murphy
Builders and tradesmen in Somerset have more work in the pipeline after the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) selected a developer to work on the Ralph Allen Yard in Combe Down, Bath.
Box Clever has been chosen to deliver a high quality scheme on the former builder's yard, with initial ideas for the development including nine houses along with an interpretive centre documenting the history of mining in the area.
All developments will be required to meet at least Code Level 4 of the Code for Sustainable Homes, meaning tradesmen will be using the latest green building techniques.
Ian Cox, director of Box Clever, commented: "We are delighted to have been selected as developer partner for what will be a low energy and quality exemplar project.
"We look forward to working with HCA and the local community to create a new and exciting place in the centre of Combe Down."
The HCA recently gave the green light to the complete redevelopment of a derelict coal mine in Bickershaw, where 650 new homes will be built.
