South-west builders and tradesmen get £65m cash boost
By Susie Cho
Builders and tradesmen in the south-west will find their skills in demand after the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) announced a £65.7 million package of funding earmarked for construction in the region.
Some 25 schemes in the south-west may be eligible for cash from the Kickstart Programme, which aims to get stalled projects moving again.
Colin Molton, regional director for the HCA in the south-west, said work will restart on the sites as soon as possible and good progress is expected to be made before the end of the year.
"This is a great opportunity for stalled projects across the South West to get underway and provide over 2,000 new homes and job opportunities on sites across the region," he commented.
The HCA claims that up to 222,400 additional new homes could be built on 270 schemes throughout England as part of the Kickstart Programme, creating more job opportunities for plumbers, electricians and handymen.
