Tradesmen to benefit from £20m funding for Welsh coastline
By Susie Cho
Tradesmen in North Wales have more work coming their way after the Welsh Assembly government announced a £20 million funding boost to drive forward the regeneration of the coastal belt in the region.
Deputy minister for regeneration Leighton Andrews said the cash for the first three years of the programme at Rhyl and Colwyn Bay would stimulate additional investment in the area.
"This is a substantial investment in Rhyl and Colwyn Bay, building on the investment already awarded under [a] Convergence programme in North Wales a few months ago," commented Mr Andrews.
It was recently announced in Wales that planning rules on micro-generation equipment, such as solar panels and ground and water source heat pumps, are to be changed to make it easier for householders to hire a tradesman to install them.
The changes, which have not yet been cleared in England, are due to come into effect from the beginning of September.
