Tyneside tradesmen deliver a first-class health centre
By Brian de Selby
Tradesmen in Tyneside have helped to deliver better healthcare in their region after the £1.8 million refurbishment of Hebburn Health Centre drew to a close.
The 1960s building has been completely stripped out and remodelled and now includes a larger waiting area, a redesigned reception room and improved consulting and treatment rooms.
Additionally, tradesmen working for BAM Construction and Space Architects have installed new signage and automatic doors to improve wheelchair access to the facility.
Stephen Clark, chair of South Tyneside Primary Care Trust, said the extensive refurbishment works have delivered a "first class" health centre for local people to use.
He added that windows have been repositioned and new heating and ventilation systems installed to provide a facility that is "fully fit for purpose and reflective of the standards now being set in our new buildings".
The completion of the work follows news that facilities in Watford and Bushey are to be refurbished as part of a £1.2 million NHS programme in west Hertfordshire.
