West Midlands to receive £109m construction cash
By Susie Cho
Builders and tradesmen in the West Midlands can expect to see more jobs coming their way after the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) announced a £109 million slice of funding to get stalled regeneration projects moving.
Some 35 projects in the West Midlands totalling around 2,800 homes have been shortlisted for scrutiny, including nine in Birmingham and 12 in the Black Country.
Paul Spooner, regional director for the HCA, said the organisation expects to see working starting back on site on a number of key projects very soon.
"The Kickstart Programme is key to our aim to create better places that people want to, and can afford to live in plus our investments will create new construction jobs and have a positive knock-on effect for local economies," he commented.
Qualified tradesmen recently welcomed news from the HCA that £84 million has been set aside to provide cavity wall insulation for up to 110,000 houses.
