The demand for domestic plumbers in the UK remains high.
Everyone has heard about the influx of foreign plumbers from Eastern Europe in recent years to exploit that potential - many of these are often unskilled or part-qualified. This in turn has created a much higher demand and a shortage of trades skills in their own countries. This together with a weakening pound against their domestic currencies means that earning money in the UK is now a much less attractive option. Indeed, Polish plumbers are being targeted by radio, TV & press advertising to return home.
An exodus of something in the order of 400,000 Eastern European tradesman is forecast over the coming months, once again creating a huge void and representing a real opportunity for the properly trained UK workforce.
